Feature Home | Marshlands, Christchurch

Posted September 28, 2018

Dylan and Tessa have built their dream home in Marshlands, Christchurch looking out over the lush Waitaikiri Golf Course and Bottlelake Forrest. It's modern, it's beautiful and it has been impeccably styled by Tessa herself.

Juggling a new home build, the arrival of baby Harvey and Tessa's beauty business she runs from home, it's a busy life. They needed beautiful yet hard wearing products that would stand up to life with a child and a dog on the run, but also meet Tessa's eye for style.

Tessa was adamant she wanted a herringbone floor to be the feature of the home. Flowing throughout from the entry into the lounge, dining and kitchen areas - she has definitely achieved her vision. Paired with neutrals and pops of green throughout tying it all together, the light, bright and airy modern home is flawless. Tessa, a self confessed interior design fanatic, has found some inspiration on Pinterest but has really just gone with finding things that she loves to fill her vision.

Vinyl Planks | Karndean Art Select Parquet Blond Oak laid in a herringbone pattern.

By choosing a vinyl plank over timber, Tessa and Dylan have significantly reduced their product and installation costs and achieved a look that is often mistaken by guests for timber. The other benefit of vinyl is that it won't warp, bend or twist, maintaining its beautifully installed appearance for many years to come.

The commercial grade vinyl planks are super hard wearing and great for a busy life - but not only are they functional, the warm tone of the timber look vinyl plank warms the crisp clean white walls and joinery throughout. Tessa's love of texture is reflected not only in the floor but throughout the home with woven natural fibers, plants and fabrics.

Carpet | Limelight Drama 97 by Cavalier Bremworth through the hall area and bedrooms.

The carpet throughout the halls and bedrooms is a dark grey, compliments the herringbone floor beautifully and warms the bedrooms and hall areas. The cut pile, extra heavy duty solution dyed nylon that Tessa and Dylan chose is again great for kids and pets with it's stain resistant properties. It's also wonderfully soft to walk on!

Baby Harvey's room is a living, breathing magazine spread/dream baby nursery. You can see that Tessa has really enjoyed searching for every piece in the room to achieve both a visually beautiful and functional space with boyish charm that will work for many years to come.

While we didn't arrange these gorgeous tiles for the bathroom, we thought you needed to see how Tessa and Dylan pulled the home together by carrying the herringbone pattern through to a stunning feature wall in the family bathroom... It's definitely not something you see every day - and stunning hardly sums it up.

Beauty Assets

Tessa works from her at home beauty salon Beauty Assets. The new space, accessible to clients through an external door, offers a quiet and calming place for clients to relax before and after their treatments. Continuing Tessa's love of green, natural tones and textures, the feature wall with a banana leaf wallpaper and timber look Moduleo luxury vinyl plank flooring creates a luxurious resort feel that creates the ambiance her clients require.
