Feature Home: An Award Winning Build

Posted September 26, 2024
Meticulously built by Blue Summit Construction and proudly positioned on the hillside of Redcliffs, our latest feature home is a magnificent mix of timber tones and clean modern lines. Having supplied and installed the flooring for this home, we were thrilled to hear the news that it recently won a regional gold award at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards! This gorgeous home makes the most of the amazing views while still being highly practical and functional without conceding on style.
Upon entering this stunning home, you are greeted by the timeless combination of crisp white walls and timber floors. Creating a sense of warmth, Genuine Oak engineered timber flooring in colour Western from Hurford welcomes you in and leads you to the spacious and sun filled kitchen and dining area. Offering timeless style with just the right amount of character, the Genuine Oak range has become known for its enduring quality and great selection of colours. In this feature home, it provides the perfect contrast to the white walls and black cabinetry. We also love the use of varnished ply expertly finished with a subtle negative detail on the ceiling. Although a different tone of timber to the flooring, it works with and not against it to create a lovely sense of harmony and continuity. The wide planks also add to the sense of spaciousness, complementing the high pitched ceiling. The engineered timber floors continues seamlessly into the living area as well as the study and hallway which make these areas feel cohesive while still being separate spaces.
Genuine Oak Western by Hurford creates a lovely and inviting sense of warmth in entrance, open plan kitchen/dining and the study and hallway areas. The wide planks also add to the sense of spaciousness.
The living room/lounge area also features a beautiful wool loop pile rug made from the stunning Coco carpet by Signature Floors. Super luxe and sumptuous, Coco is crafted from the very finest felted wool and has a gorgeous chunky loop pile making it both stylish and comfortable. Adding lovely softness to the space, we love how it contrasts in both texture and colour to the engineered timber flooring while also defining the different areas. Textured carpets and rugs offer excellent performance while adding depth and interest to a room.
We love the use of a textured rug in the living area. Made from Coco in colour Alani by Signature Floors, it subtly adds texture and warmth without taking away from that incredible view!
In the bedrooms, a cosy, inviting and timeless aesthetic is created by Whenua carpet from Feltex. A chunky loop pile wool carpet inspired by the varied terrain of New Zealand, Whenua is as hardwearing as it is stylish, providing the best of both worlds. It works beautifully with the timber furniture in the bedrooms, adding subtle pattern and texture to these spaces. The use of both timber and wool brings nature inside curating a sense of comfort and warmth and providing balance to the white walls and soft furnishings.
Whenua by Feltex in colour Sand Dune works beautifully in the bedrooms adding texture and providing contrast to the white walls and timber furniture.
In exploring this home it’s no surprise that it was an award winner at the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards. With precise finishing and thoughtfully chosen materials, it’s the kind of house that makes you feel comfortable and at home without compromising on style or aesthetics. Congratulations to Blue Summit Construction on their win, this was a great project to be involved in!
