Feature Home: Modern Design Meets Timeless Style
Posted November 14, 2024
We’ve had the privilege of visiting some absolutely beautiful homes lately and featuring them here on this blog. The latest is no exception – a stunning home in tranquil Tai Tapu that ticks all of the boxes!
Meticulously built by Gregg Builders, this gorgeous new home is a clever combination of modern design and timeless style. Upon stepping into this home there is an immediate sense of calm that welcomes you in. One of the very first things the eye is drawn to in the front entry is the Hurford Genuine Oak Herringbone timber flooring in Natural. The subtle yet distinctive timber weave pattern carries on past the cleverly designed bar recess and into the spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Adding lovely warmth and character to the space, this beautiful engineered timber turns the flooring into a subtle feature that ties in cohesively with the other materials in the space. From the beginning, the homeowners knew they wanted timber flooring but were after something a little bit different to a standard plank. Presented with the herringbone option, they immediately loved the aesthetic it provided but were a little unsure about the extra cost that comes with the installation of this format of flooring. However they bit the bullet and as soon as installation began, the hesitation disappeared and they knew they had made the right choice and they’re thrilled with the end result. The herringbone timber floors pair nicely with the monochrome kitchen cabinetry and white walls too, providing both textural and tonal contrast. Engineered timber flooring is constructed from layers of timber that are fused together using the latest technology in order to ensure stability. In other words, when installed professionally, with engineered timber flooring, you don’t have to worry about movement of boards to the same level as with traditional solid timber floors. With plenty of natural light, in this home, this is important and gives the homeowners peace of mind that their flooring will continue to look stunning for years to come.

On the other side of this expansive home the bedrooms are tucked away, offering a place to retreat and relax. Here, Orchard carpet in colour Calville from Jacobsen provides a lovely sense of calm and comfort. A solution dyed nylon loop pile carpet, Orchard introduces texture and depth to the room, providing a soft and flexible design foundation for the bedrooms. The neutral tones in Calville mean it suits a wide range of interior styles while also adding subtle warmth, which ties in effortlessly with the light beige walls. Loop pile carpets offer excellent track resistance and durability – Orchard is no exception. The homeowners needed a hardwearing carpet able to handle pets as well as the entertaining they plan to do in their lovely new home. With its exceptional fade and stain resistance, Orchard ticked all the boxes and the finished result is absolutely gorgeous.
