Timber Flooring
The Flooring Centre can provide every option in timber flooring, from traditional 19mm Solid tongue and groove planks or parquet, to the prefinished, engineered or floating floor systems.
If you are renovating, or building new we would highly recommend that you read about the New Zealand Building Code E3/AS1 updates that may mean you need to get your new flooring approved through council, or make allowances to meet the code.
Engineered Timber Flooring
Engineered timber flooring offers the look of a solid timber floor but has a firm manufactured backing that is designed to maintain your timber floor without warping for many years to come. Without the need for on-site sanding and polyurethane application, this means that your new floor can be installed quickly and efficiently with minimal disruption in your home.
The Flooring Centre only sells product from quality manufacturers that have precision engineered timber products with patented locking systems that ensure the joints remain firm and stable. Suppliers offer comprehensive guarantees covering construction and wear. Engineered timber flooring can be installed by either "floating floor" method or "direct stick" method. The direct stick method is more costly, but has the advantage of being much quieter underfoot. Bring warmth, texture, and timeless beauty into your home with genuine timber flooring. Every timber board tells its own story; natural variation, grain, and tone create a truly unique floor that can’t be replicated.
Understanding Natural Timber
Timber is a natural material. No two boards are ever the same, and every floor will display its own mix of colour, grain, and character features such as knots and sap lines.
These are not imperfections, they are part of what gives timber flooring its authenticity and charm.
Samples and Imagery
Showroom samples and website images are indicative only.
They demonstrate the general colour, texture and finish of a product, but the final installed floor will naturally vary from these examples.
Variation in grain, tone, and knot frequency means your finished floor will always differ to some degree from any single sample or image; this is part of the beauty of real timber.
Before You Choose
Our experienced consultants will explain these characteristics in detail and help you select the right product and colour for your expectations and lifestyle.
If you are seeking a completely uniform appearance without knots or grain variation, we recommend considering Laminate or Vinyl Plank flooring options, which replicate the look of timber with greater consistency.
Care and Performance
Timber floors will expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.
They may show small gaps between boards, or minor cupping, as part of their natural behaviour.
These features are not faults but normal attributes of living with a natural product.
